The energy projects and the ITP origins
1971-1985
During the seventies and up to the nuclear moratorium of 1982, SENER was deeply involved in nuclear plants, taking on several large-scale projects. After the moratorium started, the company continued developing projects in the energy sector, ranging from refining to installations for the regasification of liquid natural gas, from combined cycle electrical plants to thermosolar energy, an area of activity that today is going flat out.
1985
SENER joined the European consortium working on the development of the EJ200 engine for the multi role Eurofighter/Typhoon attack aircraft; began offering services in the telecommunications engineering field and supported the establishment of Industria de Turbopropulsores (ITP), the only Spanish company involved in aircraft engines and gas turbines.
