In the area of environmental impact studies, SENER has developed a number of innovative ways to reduce, eliminate and offset the environmental effects of new airports like Platea-Caudé in Teruel and Antequera in Malaga. These impact studies analyse aspects such as: the use of land and other natural resources, the movement of land to construct new facilities, waste and energy emission estimates based on daily airport operations, and the level of noise pollution from flights. As regards the latter, SENER has successfully applied the INM Model to determine the effect of noise pollution in El Prat Airport in Barcelona, as well as the noise impact from Bilbao - Sondika Airport.
